The Legends' Challenge Series moved into its second year with the "Ryder Cup of Rugby Golf" at Royal Birkdale on June 24th. After weeks of blazing sunshine the course was at its majestic best to welcome 10 teams representing Rugby League and 10 representing Rugby Union. Each team included a Legend of the appropriate code, to continue the friendly, but intense rivalry started with last year's hugely successful 20/20 Cricket Challenge at Pontblyddyn CC in Flintshire, north east Wales - Rugby Union one up in the Challenge Series!

When, within five minutes, you can make friends of three people you meet in the shuffling, despondent check-in queue at Gatwick, you know you're in for a good time at the Spoon La Manga golf tournament! Yes, the 'Runcibles' group of Nick and Angi Jones plus Derek and Carol Juttner met the Three Amigos (Steve Jaggs, Doug Albrow and Bob Carter) and the tone was immediately set for another splendid four days of fun and entertainment in Southern Spain. For Angi and me it was our third time - it's now a diary date we enter as soon as know the next year's timings and it really is a trip to remember; three days with friends old and new, golf on two 'challenging'courses set in the splendid facilities and ambience of the Prince Felipe hotel and the rugged Murcia countryside.

With one month to go until their 2010 Wooden Spoon Regional Golf day, the excitement is building in the West Midlands. Following last year's very successful event at Ladbrook Park Golf Club, Phil Pemble and his team are expecting competition on Monday 19th July to be even hotter.

A host of rugby stars will grace the fairways of La Manga in May when they attempt to win the Wooden Spoon Golf Classic title at La Manga Club, in May. Think you are up to the task? Then come and join in the fun.

In the midst of the cold weather why not give yourself a treat and join fellow Spoon members and rugby players from the past and present such as Jason Leonard, Gavin Hastings, Mark Regan, David Trick, Sean Perry, Roger Uttley and Matt Perry at the La Manga Club, Spain for the Wooden Spoon Celebrity Rugby Golf Classic.

On 26 September, Wooden Spoon regional golf finalists enjoyed a magnificent late summer's day over the testing, tree-lined premier course at St Pierre.

Sixteen teams gathered in the early morning gloom at Walton Heath Golf Club on Thursday, 25 October to contest the 2007 Rugby Clubs Golf Championship Final.
